I'm not sure what your talking about Jack. Are you talking about the buttons, and the almost glossy look to everything? Just use a skin, i'm sure there are other people that don't like the new look.

You're the reason markup is still a chore. I'd like to vote that we use napalm.

You know what? Maybe its your fault alex! Why dont you email microsoft and tell them to fix it!
Andrew
Jun 17 2008, 11:52 PM
Seriously? Email them? What the hell do you think people have been doing for years? Why do you think Microsoft changed ANY part of IE? Because people bitch about how shitty it is all the time. Trust me, the best thing is for all IE users to either change their browsers, or be blown up with Napalm (thanks to Alex for that amazing idea)

I have been using Firefox 3 for a few weeks now and it is definitely an improvement over Firefox 2. I also am a bit disappointed in the skin they chose. At least it looks pretty good in OSX.

Yes.
Maybe by some magical force, Microsoft will finally make a browser that is semi standard compliant with IE8...

QUOTE(Tom @ Jun 18 2008, 03:32 AM)

Apart from the ugly new icon set, I must say I am enjoying FF3. I remember being quite disappointed with 2, but 3 seems to have finally dealt with some stability issues, it has neat-o bookmarking facilities with tags, and the new location bar solves so many problems for me in which I used to use Google to search for websites I once visited with elongated search strings - just some of the nice new features.
Yes, they got their arses handed to them despite having the magic substance of napalm on their side!
The United States pulled out of the Vietnam war. We did not lose it. Technically, we were not at war, we were advisors but the Congressional approval to fight in Vietnam was not given. If anyone lost it was the people of Laos and Cambodia who came under Communist rule after the war.

Oi, thread hijack. Should we split?
On-topic: my screenshot is shown in Jack's so you can see how it looks on Linux (with the Xfce GTK theme), and Tom is right, the Awesome Bar is made of win.
Gecko 1.9 is an awesome improvement of course.
Interested to hear if the new garbage collection has helped performance for many people who had issues with FF2?

The 90s called, they want their browser back.

^ Pretty much standard on a mac, looks great. I'd probably lose the loading bars and some other clean up crap if I used it as my main browser, but just use Safari because it opens faster but use Firefox for web dev.

No, you lost. "Mutual disengagement", "strategic withdrawal" and other such euphemisms have been used to describe the pulling out of troops, but in plain old English you still lost. The statement you posted almost decries itself by the use of "technically, we were not at war". Cut the crap, the USA got served. End of.

FF3 is great on Linux. Tried it on Gentoo, OpenSUSE, and Ubuntu. On ubuntu it automagically matches whatever theme I set, and on the rest I just use a theme that closely matches the rest of my desktop.

I don't exacty know what your problem is with Firefox 3. I have upgraded from Ff2 and have found it is better. If it is the appearance of your toolbars then you can just rearrange them using View>Toolbars>Customise... if it is the webpage then you can try zooming in or out or resetting zoom.
If you don't like the theme then it is easy to get a new one.

I like this. It is clean with icons.

Just use Glasser to make FF3 hands down the best looking:
Andrew
Aug 17 2008, 06:31 PM
Haha yes cmain! I love glasser, and I found some other stylish codes so I have it hide my bookmark toolbar and my stumbleupon toolbar unless I hover over the address bar. Its pretty nice since I have a small screen resolution.
