I would like peoples thoughts of my layout I am currently working on. Don't hold back let me truly want you really think and also any ideas on improvements.

monotone colors are a nono. Your web template is in the past. Make it more modern by making it boxier, adding borders, etc. It's fairly obvious you're starting out, and imo it's pretty generic but nicely done. I like the banner.

Ya I am a graphics designer and learning web little by little. I am in the process of changing my degree at the moment as well.

I thought about adding a tech-looking style to it while trying to get the website to flow. But thanks for your opinion. Also I will be in the css coding forums after I design the layout.

Although the colors are a bit dark, there are ways you could make that work. However, with the general looks of the template, it looks a bit too plain. Its not something that really attracts me. Its something that I would find on those template based free layout site. Try to add some "piazzas" to it.

In need improvement but i have to say it.. when i saw it i said COOOLLLLLLLLL! but you should listen more to the professional guys or guys with more experience and not me
If you finish it, can you share it for download ? It would just great for a vampire related site that i know .

im 100% sure i posted here maybe not xD, Anyways the layour is pretty plain you havnt added a navigation umm the header aint to good and the font you should try something on the line of web 2.0 :] Hope that helps

what you've done so far looks good, but the image quality, especially on the banner could be a bit better

Not bad, the text effects actually look ok. I think it is going to need a lot more to work as a layout though. Drum up some content and maybe some gradients and such.

It looks a little bit n00bish but not to worry. Check out [ColourLovers] [SPAM IT! Lol.] to see what works well together and what is a no no. It's a good start though.
