Full Version: [hosting] Vbulletin No Longer Allowed
Zymic Webmaster Forums > News and Announcements > News and Announcements
Jack
Hello,

Practically every VBulletin forum uploaded is nulled/pirated on our servers and I don't think you can even install a legal version because you need fsockopen enabled during the installation.

From now on no VBulletin is allowed, and those of you currently running VBulletin forums without a license will be removed from our servers.

PHPBB etc are still allowed.

Thanks
Brandon
I knew loads where useing a Nulled version, if i see any i will report.

I assume that would fall under the "etc" category and until further notice, yes..
Elevendude
Finally something is being done.

I hope this helps out in how our sites have loading problems all of the time as well.
I like Zymic's hosting a lot but there is so much downtime on my site like every 5 or 10 minutes that nothing can be done so what's the point of it if doesn't workt?
Jack
Yes this will also help improvement, VBulletin is a huge resource drain as its very bloated, the majority of our status logs are to do with VBulletin.
NaRzY
Good that we sorted this out.

we

heh you mean admins?

Jack: how is this going to be enforced?
NaRzY
By "we" I mean the community. That we have finally got around to the banning of all nulled vBulletin boards as usually if your using a free host with no domain name, then how can you afford the license.

Jacob.
machine
Um, and there are some other sites [fake banking sites allegedly being used for phishing purposes] on Zymic. There's this member called Lance who's been posting about them in the TOS thread. Maybe the admins could look at those too...
NaRzY
Maybe I should write some PHP code and make an automated ticketing system...Good little project to help the community.

Jacob.
ChaoXide
What about those (like me) who have a valid vB license. Can we use it then? :/
shinjiketojapann
I'm with chaoXide,
i have a valid VB license as well.

you could probably pick something off of Hotscripts if you wanted to save the time biggrin.gif
NaRzY
Hence the "Good little project to help the community..." part. tongue.gif.
I would guess that they would not allow vBulletin file extensions.

Jacob.
Conolev
Well since you have banned vBulletin i have noticed a considerable increase in speed and performance on my website. smile.gif
NaRzY
As you do when nearly every nulled version of vBulletin is removed. As Jack said, it is a very bloated system. As for the true copies of vBulletin, what I would do is PM Jack (or another admin) with your license details of it so they check it and if it checks out then may be they will allow you to host it here.

Jacob.
MrTouz
well phpBB is free... so can't really pirate this one tongue.gif
Camille
Good thing I wasn't using vBulletin anyway.
WaterDemon
Alright so, if we previously had a vBulletin forum we can keep it, as long as the vBulletin license is valid? I really don't want to take mine down, as i'm just starting to use it again. =\
newhunk
I agree. hunter.gif

I have uploaded nulled vb but i m not using it and even not installed it yet.

Why can you not delete it all?

Jacob.

What I find really funny is that, if you CAN afford a vBulletin or even an IPB license, then you wouldn't be hosting your website for FREE here at Zymic! This makes it obvious that all vBulletin or IPB licenses uploaded here are fakes. Same applies to other software that require licenses.

some people (like me) are not willing to pay for space they do not need,
that is why some people pay for the forum software then use a free host,
most forum switch to a paid forum software out of a forum vote,
i know that first hand.
Soul Of Me
Ima go and delete my nulled forum now.
I dont want to be banned from zymic.

i have to agree with that.

As an other member said 'people do not want to pay for space they might not use'
Well i have to say that many hosting companies offer around 300g to unlimited space... NO one.. i say NO one.. will use that specific space... it's always to much... for a very very very low price.

IPB licence is : 179$
Vbulletin is : 180$

Owned for ever of course..

Hosting ? most hosting with an average of 100g to 300g (http://www.ixwebhosting.com/) (http://www.siteground.com/) (http://www.godaddy.com/).... Go for 5$ to 7$ which makes it an average of... 60$ to 74$.

With the price of your licence you can go on for around 3years of hosting... knowing that in 3 years it'll be cheaper.. and you will have more space...

Its clear... if you can afford a license than you certainly can afford a host... Plus... why say no for a good domain name ? good hosting... 100% (almost) control of your server...

____

I did not know that vbulletin eat that much of a server speed ! impressive catch by the admins ! one rock 2 hits !
cooldude101
You could also use IPB 1.3.

You could also use IPB 1.3.

Legally you can only use version 1.3 if you had the files BEFORE IPB went fully paid. Since they no longer allow you to download the free version from their site using 1.3 is still technically illegal. Although I've got 1.3 STILL on my computer so it's possible. But i'd much rather use the newest version... it's so much nicer.
FuLLownZ
