I'm so mad right now angry.gif
After checking TorrentFreak i found this article: Deep Packet Inspection and Your Privacy Online
It seems, that ISP-s are welcoming ‘Deep Packet Inspection‘ (DPI) technology and some of them are already experimenting with it.

Every move you make will be monitored, every click you make, every mail you send/recive will be interrupted, logged by ISP.

Here is one comment:

This is all about some 3rd party having more info on you than the government is able to obtain under a court order from a judge, who has to agree with the government before the data can be harvested. This collects 100% of what you do and where you go online

That is ridiculous... very ridiculous and should be stopped... I wonder what the government would do with that...

"Hahaha, that guy is checking porn... oooo some hot chicks!"

The internet should be free and neutral(period).

Doesnt fade me too much, i played like i been monitored for almost 11 years.

I do agree that the net should be netural, but if a company or corporation has a product or software everyone uses, its up to them if they want to monitor this or that. Not personal just business. I know its personal 2 us cause they collect our personal info and such. And if people their customers are against that, different companies will pop-up and do the opposite, unless the companies in current control have a monopoly or stomp the competition where they cant even start up.

get used to it. i grew up in a time when the thought of having cameras on every street corner and tracking the movements of people was considered fascist and NOT the American way. spying on people, reading their mail, searching their house without warrants was what the enemies of the free world did. now its not only excepted as normal, but viewed as necessary and progressive.

their is a certain group of high powered people in this country that should be hanged for treason.

i feel sorry for you younger people, its only going to get worse. the average American is getting dumber and dumber, is having more and more stress put upon them on purpose, and then having their fear and fatigue played upon. "your life sucks because of so and so! that's why you need to sacrifice just a little more, that's why we have to take away just a little more personal freedom, you want to be safe don't you?".

more and more will be asked of you, and those that balk will be branded "unAmerican", as unpatriotic. i feel sorry for you, sorry that you will die for no reason other than your neighbor denouncing you as a criminal because he heard you speak your mind.

far fetched? hardly.

villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot. Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well-camouflaged.
they will always be with us. Waiting for or trying to create the right climate in which to flourish, spreading fear in the name of righteousness.

Vigilance, that is the price we must continually pay for freedom.

learn to recognize who is your REAL enemy, and then vanquish him.

I think internet started the wrong way. Seriously, i think to many things are wrong with internet and there is really no control over it... damn, see what is happening over the internet ? pedophiles searching and chatting around... cyber terrorism, account stealing, cracking, hacking... so many bad things are happening over the web, and i think it should be monitored... but damn, how much ? how is it going to be... there is not personal LIFE anymore because of the web.

I also think it should be free, and the way its going.. it IS going to be free :

2002 i use to pay 59€ for 20hours of web, in order to get web i needed a special line 13€/month, and had to pay the phone company around 19€

2004/5 they removed the 13€/month and the phone bill was included inside the 59€ + it was unlimited web surf.

2008 i pay 29.99€ and get 24g internet speed, free phone and free cellphone calls around the glob (60 different countries) + i get around 40chanels of cable for free, also Neuf offers me free web hosting and 9gigs of Instant File sharing where i can access all over the world.

I am guessing in 2010 the price will be around 20€ and tv on my PC will be FREE. also it will include some cellphone bill and internet inside of it just for my cell, with i guess a free Iphone V4 tongue.gif

And i guess in 2015 it will be free biggrin.gif or really... really cheap, and at least thousands of free services tongue.gif

Yes, internet isn't perfect and to have control over it is impossible. The same is with real life: here we have murders, robbers and all the other criminals. In the internet we have hackers, scammers etc. Goverment tries to regulate things but total control isn't possible ... unless you censor everything and take away the last remainig privacy you have online.
In the internet you still have some anonymity. You can surf around and usually no1 cares what site you visit or what you do online ... unless you do something really wrong and pop up in goverment radar tongue.gif (search for explosives online to make a bomb for example)

This technology, DPI, takes the last remaining privacy away and the thing is: it's not the goverment who records everything, it's the ISP.

I do not want my isp to monitor my browsing habits
I do not want my isp to monitor my personal email
I do not want my isp to log where i go, what i do, what i download/upload, who i chat to, etc. online

I might as well install keylogger to my pc that sends all my activity to isp directly ... saveing them from trouble to buy this new expencive equipment.

Also i have to agree, that in the future the prices of the internet connection will drop but it will never be free. It shuld, but it's impossible. ISP needs to make living after all ...
