learn, trust yourself, don't doubt that little voice inside your head, don't think "well they must know better, they must be educated, they must be telling the truth otherwise they'd get called on it".

when your watching the news, ask yourself "who owns this station?" when your reading an article ask yourself "who owns this newspaper or website, what corporate and financial stake do they in things?" follow the money.

"they" will not tell you the truth, they will tell you what they want to tell you, what is best for them.

don't believe all of what you hear and half of what you see. that is the world we live in, the sooner you realize that the better.

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.

All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.

That was really crazy. The first part about questioning who owns the newspaper and stuff sounded like what socretes tought. I would advise anyone to go read up on it sometime. We do live in crazy times. Our society is so worn down from all the violence and hate. It's almost like it doesn't phase us anymore. I read and study the bible, and one of the things I notice when I read it, is back then, their society was rather pure compared to ours. When someone is murdered, everyone knew about it. It was a big deal. Now its just like, oh cool.

Take a look at some newspaper headlines and see how they've changed. It used to be "man gets murdered in his apartment!" and it would make the front page. Today, in order for it to make the front page, it has to be some of the most outrageously disgusting murders or something of the sort.

i think you should be careful with what you say.
The purpose of a news paper, or a chanel that provides news is to 'bring' news. What you should tell is more, be careful of what is good and bad inside the news.

Each news paper, and channel and who ever brings a new has a 'party' and a 'side' politically talking, they will try to make it better for them point of view, the information that is going to be given is going to be 'changed' but NOT false. They are going to give you this info, this news to suit their 'ideal' and there 'point of view' and all that so they keep a GOOD image.

its like watching CNN and FOX... same story, but told differently.

Just be careful to see between the information it self and what the one that gives the news added to that specific info.

Yes the world is bad and sad and mad and crazy but THERE ARE THINGS YOU CAN DO to make it better... and screaming on the window will only affect YOU and YOU only... (thats why its being selfish)

Create an organization, crate a party, create what ever, talk to people, try to find solutions, fix the world, be happy and not mad... if you really want to change the world thats what you have to do... help others, and help your self...

There are alot of things wrong with your thought process. I think all the drugs you did when you were younger fucked your head up. In my post there was nothing mean about it, I was simply stating MY opinion in a public forum. Therefore I didn't break any rules either. I replied to what you said, and yes your stuff is random. This is a webmaster community. Sure this "other" forum is for stuff that doesn't belong in other categories, but most of the people on here have a more technological thought process. They don't do a bunch of drugs then post about it on here.

How can you not say we live in a great world? We can instantly talk to anyone no matter where they are located, there is endless entertainment available to us, we can say whatever the fuck we want, there are parks to jog through, beaches to tan and play on, great education available to us, and I just had a steak dinner. Some people just can't be pleased.

All I can say is that you could have brought up this issue in a more presentable/reasonable manner, instead of making your post seem like a random rant sort of a thing.

And when you make a post about something you feel so strongly about, it's better to be prepared to face opposition -- from people who may also feel just as strongly about the issue as you do, only they support the other side.

Insulting/humiliating someone or 'screaming' louder does not make you right -- it only makes you look bad and juvenile. I know Trippin' from his posts here -- he's a 'dude', alright ...

Having said all that, I do have to agree with your basic idea that we're living in times of extreme commercialisation, where anything and everything that can be marketed and sold for profit gains precedence over the 'real' issues. I've seen this first hand. No one, it seems, wants to read about starvation in a Third World nation [or an impending ecological problem] -- but give them entertainment disguised as news and they all lap it up...

It's sad, but it's true. What can you/we do to change this? Make yourself heard -- ask the right questions, think about what is being fed to you and why -- in other words, verify the facts before you trust someone who's trying to make up your mind for you. It's not very difficult in this age of the Internet and high-speed information. There's always another side to every story -- try to get both sides before you take a decision.

There still remain a few international media organisations that choose to depart from this commercialisation of information -- find out what they have to say on an [or any] issue. That's all I can say ...
