This may sound weird "for free, why?"
I'm starting my own portfolio and I need some sample, so I'm ready to make 5 free template, I will also code them in xhtml/css valid xhtml 1.0 strict and css 2.0
this is my portfolio,
JS Design studiorules are :
you need to have a domaine name not a subdomaine.
I'm not making free layout for personal website.
I can refuse you, if I dont like the project.
end of the rules
I usually do all the template (design and code it) in 1 day if my inspiration feel good.
I use photoshop cs3, flash cs3, dreamweaver cs3 and I code php
so if you need a php script for your news or protected area I could make it.

Sickness: Your approach to design needs a little more focus. For a grayscale layout, you sure have managed to incorporate many contrasting elements and it detracts from what is otherwise a reasonably clean and elegant design. For a start, I'd rethink the choice of fonts and logo.
First impression counts for a lot so I am trying to offer constructive criticism, please don't take it the wrong way.

Than's for the comment, I think I will just make a new one and maybe sharing this one. I already have a new one, but it's not coded yet.

I've shrinked this one, so some graphics can be altered.
this one is 800*960 and the real one is 1000*1200
I'm actually changing some effect, but it's still on the psd.
also the footer content are just sample, cuz it's will not be the same in the real template, I've just made it fast cuz I'm was bored.

After the header, it looks a bit dull and too generic. Personally, I'd try and improve the design you currently have up on the site. There also seems to be a lot of mismatched contrast.
BTW, you will realise I rarely like anything and almost always have something to say. Even for sites listed on the "top design" lists floating around. Sorry about that.

I like you first one better -- has a certain hi-tech feel to it, although you should consider a hi-tech typeface for your header. And maybe think about a new logo -- skulls remind me of Gothic stuff, and your site looks, as I mentioned, 'hi-tech'. However, that first layout has some problems in IE [I think]. So you could look into that issue as well...

I think I should create something like this

What do you think guys? all comment are welcome.

You'd be better off with something simpler in a logo, and not something that looks like a half rocket ship half fish from something like Sesame Street.

Lol
I agree with everyone here, keep the first layout but make some major changes, I personally am not so sure how much I like the wires and stuff, because that was something that everyone did like 5 years ago, but that could make your site different. I also agree that the skulls are very gothic, so drop those, and the text is very grunge so drop that. As to what you need to replace those with, i'm not certain. If I think of anything I'll let ya know.

Should I change the text font of the buttoms? because it will be weird if the text font of the page is not the same of the buttom's text font??
I just want your opinion?
fenerli
Jul 11 2008, 02:37 AM
It's "button", not "buttom". Or were you referring to the bottom of the page?
Change the font of both the buttons (navigation) and the body text font as pixelated fonts are not well suited for general purpose text on the web (if not anywhere). And it's okay if the font for the navigation and body text is different.

Thank's for the comment and sorry for the mispelling, I'm just tired now I've just come back from work and my head is busy right now.

Umm the second one is the only one that loaded for me, I like it though. I'd like to see the other two though.

Jul 11 2008, 03:43 AM
Sickness, the main issue with fonts was the font of the buttons and body text, not the logo.
Having said that, the second one is the best. The third one has a font that is almost broken when there are thin lines and the first one is too bold.
BTW, you seem to have mixed up case sensitivity.
Corrected:

Not necessarily fenerli, some fonts are made that way and there is no way around it. I am assuming this is the case since his first logo has normal case letters.
And I still like the second one the best.

Better. A more professional logo maybe? Also, the font for the buttons looks too plain if you ask me. Doesn't suit the rest of the header. At least try a Verdana if you want to stick with web friendly fonts. Anyway, it is shaping up to be a good layout overall.

Thank's, for the logo I just dont have anymore inspiration, cuz there's no theme and the logo must be in a single color, it must also be simple and original, so it's harder to do.
Any idea for the logo?

I think it would be okasy to just keep it then and then change it later on. After all, there are more important things such as the actual content of the site and the presentation of that to worry about.

I have a new screen of the layout

sorry I've made a mistake in the text of the layout.
This layout has been shrinked and not shinked.
This is my lastest logo I just need to choose between those:

Yeah, thats good!
But people shouldn't use the "Smooth" setting for content, they should set it to "none". I find the fonts look naff' when Smooth setting is used for content on photoshop.

That design is possibly 10 times better then your old one. This one has visible text and doesn't use that outer glow on everything.

Hi there, I may need your services, is it still available? (:
I'm the owner of Sapphiro.net, a new site that I've been planning for awhile, in the future it's gonna be a dynamic community for different genres, a community for all. We'll cater to gamers, bloggers, web masters and alot more and will host online game tournaments every few months. =] I'm already on my way recruiting my own team of people, but anyway, I know webdesign, but I would only say I'm still at the junior level so I would appreciate if you can help out to design a main layout for sapphiro.net.

I'll give you more details if you're interested, I'll link back to your site (though the traffic is minimal now, we've not opened officially.)
http://sapphiro.netbtw for your white layout, maybe you can have ur navigations as texts on the protruding faces of the top banner.
