Welcome to the news archive! This is the database of news articles since the start of Zymic version six.
2008 - December 31st, 2007 9:58 PM
2007 has been a successful year for Zymic, since the launch of version six around 3 and a half months ago we have had over 24,000 new members, an active forum community of nearly 6000 members and look to finish the year with nearly 20,000 hosted websites. Its nice to think that with the whole 2 or so years version 5 was online, we had around 20,000 members, and yet version 6 has beaten this in just over 3 months!
Here is an overview of whats in store for 2008:
1) A redesign (v6.5) along with some new site-wide features.
2) The launch of our all new turnkey (web scripts) section which will include custom written scripts/CMS's for sale.
3) Brand new web hosting features.
4) A template copyright system meaning that you will get paid for submitting website templates to Zymic.
5) The launch of the premium template section (yet again!).
6) A more continual supply of tutorials submitted.
1) Zymic Redesign (v.6.5)
I'm currently designing a new layout for Zymic, which will be based from the current version, but with some improvements. These improvements include getting rid of the cluttered left navigation and implementing a sub-navigation for each page/section of Zymic. The whole look will be a tad more "web 2.0" (without sounding too "Cliché") and will have more spaced out content (liquid % layout). Without going too much into the boring details, this layout will be easier to use, community based and better looking ;)
2) Turnkey Section
We are currently working on a number of exclusive products with the aim to deliver high quality web turnkey scripts for a range of categories. The turnkey market is seeing the same old poorly coded scripts being produced by developers, however we'll be focusing on offering feature-rich, easy to use applications/CMS's with the end user kept in mind. The turnkey section will make use of the all new Zymic layout with a sub-navigation particular for each product/script and we will be merging the licensing and ordering system into your Zymic control panel, thus eliminating the need to sign-up again if you wish to buy a script. Each script will also have a developer center so that license holders can visit for documentation, widgets, source-code, downloads, templates etc. The launch of the turnkey section will play an essential role (and asset to finance our expansion!) in 2008, with Zymic being renowned for offering high-quality scripts.
3) New Web Hosting Features
New web hosting features will be implemented, probably before anything else on this list. New features include scrapping email verification for hosting signup (you had to verify your main account, so theres no need for us to verify you again!), ability to delete your own hosting account, reset hosting password, an actual error for incorrect password (at the moment it just repeats a logging in message!), a change to the free domain application; we'll give away free domains to users with xxx forum posts, auto-install of web scripts (including wordpress, phpbb, etc) which will install via a simple mouse click, in-built htaccess feature (password protect directories, custom 404 pages, etc without needing to know htaccess code), free cash competition will be launched in January and will award users with the most popular websites and last but not least better spam and phishing site protection.
As you can see, that's a lot of features, but most are simple to do and will be done some time in January.
4) Get paid for submitting templates
This new system is actually nearly done, the idea will be to award template submitters the copyright license fee's that each template makes while being on Zymic. Simply submit a template, specify a license removal price and you'll get paid for each removal resulting in a nice consistent monthly income.
5) Premium Templates
The premium templates section was taken offline shortly after the V6 release due to vulnerabilities with out supplier. The section will be relaunched some time between Jan-Feb with a large database of affordable premium templates.
6) Tutorials
We haven't been updating our tutorial section often, this is due to the lack of decent tutorial writer applications. If you would like to earn a nice income from writing tutorials and articles, please visit: http://www.zymic.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1500 - With new tutorial writers on the scene we can ensure a more constant supply will be submitted.
I'd like to thank everyone who has made V6 the success it has been, 2008 here we come!
