Learn the basics of creating a 3D wine glass using the Spline Object.

Step 1

Open up Cinema 4D. Make sure your view looks similar to below, and read the notes, if your view doesn't look like this, go to Window-> Layout-> Reset Layout.

Click Cameras in the top of the main view on the left, then choose Left, your main view should look like this:

Zoom in a bit by clicking and holding on the in the top right of the main view window and dragging the mouse to the right, zoom in until it looks similar to this:

Go to Objects-> Create Spline-> Linear . Click in the center of the view where the blue and green lines meet. Now click again about seven squares over, now keep clicking until yo have a shape similar to this one:

In the Attributes window set Type to B-Spline, you will notice that the spline (path) gets allot smoother:

Now go to Objects-> NURBS-> Lathe NURBS. In the Object manager drag the Spline object over the Lathe NURBS object so you get a little arrow pointing down and then let go of the mouse and the object will go under the Lathe NURBS object like below:

Step 7

Click Cameras-> Perspective. Then do Ctrl+R to render a preview. You should have something like below!

I will explain how to make it look like a real glass in a different new tutorial.
