Very good! Thanx
Create an "Alien" type header interface using this detailed tutorial.
Bevel & Emboss:
Color Overlay:
Ctrl click the "middle feature" layer to make a selection. Make a
new layer name it "feature shine".
With the selection still running, select the "Gradient
Tool" and make a gradient which goes from "white
to transparent". Now drag from top to bottom and set the layer
mode to "overlay".
Now save this psd, (right click save
target as..). Open the psd and copy the alien case image onto your header's canvas.
The reason I saved the psd is because the image has been cut out with a transparent
background, saving it as .gif would have lost it's quality.
Place the Alien Case in the middle of the "middle feature" layer making
sure the layer is at the top of the layers pallet.
Ctrl click "middle feature" layer to make a selection. "Select
> Modify Expand" by 1 pixel.
Make a new layer, fill selection in with black and press "Shift + Ctrl
+ [" which will send the layer to the back.
Bring up the blending options - Bevel & Emboss:
And press OK
Name this layer "middle feature bevel"
Ctrl click "middle feature" layer to make a selection. "Select
> Modify Expand" by 16 pixels.
Make a new layer, fill selection in with black and press "Shift + Ctrl
+ [" which will send the layer to the back.
Name the layer "middle feature border".
Now right click the layer "base" and select "copy layer style".
Now go back to your "middle feature border" layer, right click it
and select "paste layer style".
You should now have a result like mine below:
Ctrl click "middle feature" layer then "select > modify >
contract" by 4 pixels.
Make a new layer, fill selection in with WHITE and press "Shift + Ctrl
+ [" which will send the layer to the back of the layer pallet.
Change the opacity to 12%.
The tutorial has basically ended, its now up to you to add your own personal
details and touches.
