Apply a simple square pattern to your images and graphics.

Step 1

First you need to open up the image/graphic you want to apply the pattern to, I used the one below:

Step 1 diagram

Step 2

Now make a new document with a width of 8 pixels and a height of 8 pixels with a transparent background. Now zoom in using the Zoom tool around 1600%. Once zoomed in grab the pencil tool and draw an outline of a square like below:

Step 2 diagram

Step 3

We now need to define the pattern, go to [ Edit > Define Pattern ] and name it "Square".
Now bring back your original imge you want to apply the square pattern to and make a new layer [ Layer > New > Layer ] Grab the Paint Bucket tool. Now look at the top of your screen and select Pattern from the fill drop down box and select the pattern you named "Square" from the pattern drop down box like below.

Then fill your image in and it should have a cool square pattern, remember to change the layers opacity lower so it blends in well!

Step 4

Very Nice, it looks like it is professionally done. I see this style occasionally in Web Hosting logos and other sites.
